I Bet You Want The Goodies..Bet You Thought About It...

Yesterday was my pre-birthday celebration, otherwise known as Free Comic Book Day. The plan was to go into one of my usual comic book shops, Beyond Comics in Gaithersburg, MD, chat up the very-friendly and informative employees, and take my free comic books home. I was not to exchange books for currency under any circumstances. No matter how much I wanted to catch up on Captain America. Or felt the need to own all of Transmetroplitan. It didn't matter that I own books 1, 2, 6, 7, and 8 of my new favorite manga and I have no idea what happens in books 3 through 5. And so what if that Scott Pilgrim action figure was clearanced the last time that I was there, complete with a katana and a skateboard? I do work in nonprofit, after all. And a gal such as myself can't be running around buying the expensive trades she wants all of the time, especially on a day when she's getting some issues for free.

Instead, this happened:

Ummm...in my defense, a good portion of those are the free comics. Thing was, I wasn't expecting them to run a sale. Twenty-five percent off of all non-new trade paperbacks and action figures. When was the last time you saw a sale on comic books at your local shop? Yeah? Well fine, I haven't.  I left Scott Pilgrim on the rack, only purchased two books for myself, and didn't even check to see which new versions of Fluxx were in. Too much. Like, I didn't ask them to take them out of the display case or anything. So when you think about it, I showed a crazy amount of restraint. Aren't you proud of me?

I filled in some of the gaps in my Sin City collection and bought my accomplice a book he's wanted in celebration of our first Free Comic Book Day together. I also picked up THE best Wonder Woman comic for my "big sis" because, as we all know, nothing says, "Happy Mother's Day!" like a comic book.

So tell me about your loot. What did you all pick up yesterday?
