My career largely revolves around the AIDS epidemic. This isn't surprising since I work in healthcare in Washington, DC, THE area most affected by HIV in the country with a rate reportedly higher than West Africa. Learning about HIV treatment has become a huge part of my life. Words I'd barely heard two years ago like HAART, Truvada, NNRTIs and NRTIs, and protease and integrase inhibitors are now part of my research on a daily basis.
