Be Like Me. Go See "The Devil's Double"

The Devil's Double PosterOn Tuesday night, I had two tickets for a prescreening of The Devil's DoubleThe trailer looked fantastic and I was hoping that it wouldn't disappoint.

It didn't.

The film is about a man who was forced to be the body double of Saddam Hussein's son. I had many questions but my main one was how accurately they would depict the main characters and the events surrounding the true story of Latif Yahia al-Salihi.

They did an absolutely phenomenal job. It was almost perfectly accurate, as far as I can tell based on my research.

I won't say much more but as the guest I took pointed out, "I don't want to spoil the ending...but Saddam Hussein ends up dying."

I find it puzzling, however, that the post script after the movie claimed that Latif is "a hard man to find," but he earned a doctorate, wrote several books, and gave a bunch of interviews.

Here's one such interview: BBC, December 2009.
